Annual WES Memorial Weekend Camping Trip

This year the camping trip was 80 people strong over the weekend at Three Otters Eco Retreat and we had a fabulous time!

We had a lot of fun kayaking, canoeing, biking, hiking, kite flying, and playing all sorts of field games during the day for active games. We had a few board games and crafts too, but with such a gorgeous weekend, much of the time was spent outdoors.

Lisa and Jesse Silverberg again created a fun obstacle course/scavenger hunt which was enormously popular with the kids.. This year's winning group was "Too Cool for School". Can you say the kids are ready for summer?

Our hosts at Three Otters were wonderful and their facilities were amazing. We enjoyed full bathrooms with hot showers, plenty of kayaks and canoes and all the help they gave in those activities. We had the benefit of a full kitchen and tons of refrigerator space too, so preparing food for 80 went pretty smoothly.

We started the morning with volunteers making coffee and starting breakfast and dove right into the activities for the day. We gathered for meals with everyone taking turns prepping or cleaning up. Sunday evening included a talent show with fun and silly acts. The favorite, I think being  Moira Lee's act which included the mega 12 foot handstand performed by Moira with Adrian Sinclair and Russell Corbin as the base.

Both nights ended with S'mores around the campfire, songs by Carolyn Tabak, and story telling by one of the camp's hosts. Then it was off to our tents and campers for sleep.

Since this year at WES has seen a lot of growth, it was great for new and long term members to get to know each other better. Our kids big and small made new friendships too and I'm sure created a lot of wonderful camping memories.

All in all it was a great success and we are already planning for next year!
